Ofure Centre for the Seniors in Uromi - Esannorth LGA, Edo State.
A Haven for the Elderly!
The OFURE CENTRE is a visionary project initiated by the Esan United Sisters International UK (EUSI UK), aimed at creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for the seniors in our community. This centre is designed to address the social, physical, and emotional well-being of senior citizens, providing them with a space to connect, learn, and thrive. Named “OFURE,” which means blessing in the Esan language, the centre embodies the spirit of care, community, and empowerment for the elderly.
The Story behind the Ofure Centre
The story behind the Ofure Centre – Uromi is a touching testament to generosity and community spirit.
In 2016, following a successful fundraising event, Late Mr. Ebhohimhen (of blessed memory) and his wife, Dame Caroline (our Matron, made a remarkable donation—a plot of land in Uromi—to the Esan United Sisters International UK (EUSI UK).
During the fundraising, EUSI UK had expressed their desire to build a care home or community center, and this generous land donation helped turn that vision into reality. The Ofure Centre stands as a symbol of their kindness and the collective effort of the Esan diaspora to give back to their homeland.
The Esan community remains deeply grateful for the Ebhohimhen family’s benevolence, which continues to inspire and uplift many.
